Over the years, many people have told me that they can’t do something that they wish they could do. What I’ve found with each and every one of these people, is that they may wish to be able to do something, but aren’t willing to learn, practice, or even just try that thing.
I was an elite speed roller skater growing up. I was 9 when I first stepped foot in a skating rink. I literally couldn’t stand up on skates. I went every Sunday and never once thought that I couldn’t learn. Being 9 years old, I didn’t think about it being difficult. I didn’t think about it not being for me or something I couldn’t learn. All I knew was that I loved it and wanted to do it all the time.
That was in 1976. In 1977 I joined the speed team. By 1985 I was one of the fastest roller skaters in the world. The first day I put skates on I wasn’t intimidated. I didn’t think about the future. I didn’t worry that I’d never get better. I just loved it and wanted to do it… all the time. Without even noticing, I got better by leaps and bounds. I went from unable to stand up on roller skates in 1976 to a national champion in 1985.
The progression happened because I immersed myself in it and enjoyed every minute of it. My coaches corrected what I was doing wrong and I improved. That happened over and over until I was flying on roller skates.

Don’t worry about getting published. Don’t worry about whether or not your writing is good. Do it because you love it. Love it so much you want to do it all the time. Love it so much you want to take courses, join writing groups, and practice, practice, practice.
Before you know it, you’ll have come so far all your writing dreams will come true, naturally and without force or worry.
Try it and watch the magic happen.
