How to Find Happiness as a Writer

May 2, 2021 0 Comments

So many people say, “I’ve always wanted to write a novel, but I just don’t have time.” My response to that is that you do have time. Writing doesn’t have to be a full-time job unless it is literally your full-time job.

If you love writing, but don’t think you have time to write a book, then don’t write a book… right away. There are plenty of other things you can write that you’ll enjoy just as much if not more than a novel.

You can find fulfillment and possibly some extra income by thinking a bit outside the box.

If you want to write but don’t have much extra time, maybe write short stories or poems and put them into a collection that you can self-publish.

Another thing to consider is ghostwriting. I self-published five books so far and am working on a sixth. They are hardly money makers, but that’s ok. I write because I love it. I am, however, a remote Content Writer full-time. I write articles for a company and it’s a great way to enjoy writing and get paid to do it. I found the job on Indeed and applied. I’ve been there for 3 1/2 months.

There are many ways you can be a ghostwriter and make some income. Here are some suggestions for you:

  • Think about a writing niche that would suit you. What are your skills, passions? There is where you’ll find your writing niche.
  • Then, tell everyone. When anyone asks, “What have you been up to? What’s new?” Instead of responding, “Not much,” say “I’m getting my ghostwriting business off the ground. I’m really excited about it.” People will inevitably ask questions and who knows, they or someone they know may need a ghostwriter.
  • Depending on your time, you can ghostwrite articles, memoirs, social media posts, eBooks, resume’s, documents, the list goes on and on. Think about what excites you and start there.
  • By writing short stories and/or poems, you can improve your writing skills and build a portfolio.
  • Take any online writing course you can that’s cheap or free. Keep improving your skills. The more impeccable your writing, the more in demand you’ll be.

I hope these suggestions help you to think outside the box a bit more and to finally be able to live your passion for writing. There are countless ways to be a writer, and at least some of them will fit into your busy schedule and life. I hope you find what your writing passion and soar!
