And Never Let it Go

If you think like a writer in everything you do, your world will spring to life.

I noticed something about myself lately, and I thought I’d pass it along. It’s something I do that gets stronger the more frequently I write. It happens every time I leave my house. By thinking like a writer, I bring my world to life.

By observing the world going on around me, really observing, I notice things I would normally miss. I might see a frustrated person and watch their antics, someone having a funny, animated conversation with someone else, people’s clothing, hairstyles, mannerisms, or simply the way the sun shines on a flower or person, or the way the wind tousles a person’s hair.

I then describe that stuff inside my head, as if I’m writing it into a scene.

You’ll not only find more joy and have more vibrancy in your life, you’ll find wonderful fodder for your stories. After all, we can never have too many ideas, right?

To always see or more specifically, notice the world around me, I really take it in. I am never bored, never unhappy, and I come home with fresh ideas I can’t wait to get down on paper.

I hope you find this post inspiring. Take a walk or drive today and try it out. I hope it helps you experience the world in a whole new light. In these trying times, I feel we all need to remember to notice all the joy and wonder this world has to offer.

I adore writing and the more I practice what I mentioned above, the more exciting my life becomes, full of possibilities and joy. I feel that sometimes people become depressed because they forget how to create and fill up their inner world as opposed to their outer world.
