It’s that time again for another short story contest. For this one, I’m giving you four prompts from which to choose.

Put your own twist on the story, but please, please, please, read it out loud when you’re finished, or read it to someone else.

Also, run it through a grammar checker. There’s nothing worst than reading a submission full of errors. Ugh.

That being said, let’s get to the fun part. Here are the rules:

1. Your short story must be between 1,000 – 2500 words
2. Write your story in a 12 pt. font in Word or a PDF
3. Write the name of the prompt you choose ABOVE the title of your story
4. Include your email address with your submission. I’ll notify the winner via their email. The winner can then give me the address to where they’d like me to send the prize
5. Send your submissions to writeon22@yahoo.com
6. The deadline for submission is midnight EST, Friday, March 19, 2021
7. Have fun and let those creative minds loose.

Here are the prompts. Please choose 1 from the following:

1. You tossed your rent bill across the room in frustration and it went under your bed. A minute later, a grotesque claw pushes the bill back out with a wad of cash.
2. No one can hear you, see you, or feel you. Recently, you’ve started to haunt a college student around your age. They’d be your best friend if you could only communicate, you’re sure of it. Then, one day they look up and ask you, “Why do you keep following me?”
3. Scientists uncover a stone with writing on it that no one can make sense of. When you see it for the first time, you can read it perfectly.
4. A long time has passed since you visited your childhood home. It is abandoned, so you break in. As you walk around, you find a room that you never knew existed.
