Here you go, as promised… the latest short story contest. Let’s get right to it. Here are the rules. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
- Write a short story between 1,000 and 2,500 words. Please write the name of the prompt at the top of your story.
- Pay special attention to grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. I won’t consider the entry if it’s poorly edited and riddled with errors. These contests are to hone your writing skills, so grammar and punctuation matters.
- All entries must be submitted by midnight EST, July 26.
- Submit story to writeon22@yahoo.com.
- I haven’t decided on the prize yet, but as usual, I will make a cute prize for the winner.
- All stories will be posted for every group member to read.
Here are the prompts. Choose one and write your story in any genre’ you choose. Enjoy. I can’t wait to read them.
- The brothers had been exploring abandoned buildings together since they were children, but they had never encountered anything like this.
- You stumble upon a hidden paradise during your summer vacation. Describe this magical place in vivid detail, including the sights, sounds, and scents that make it extraordinary. What happens there?
- Write a story set in a remote, abandoned cottage you stumble upon during your summer vacation. Uncover the secrets hidden within its walls.
- If you could travel back during your summer vacation, which era would you visit? Write a time-travel story that takes you on a remarkable journey through history, exploring the period’s sights, people, and events.
Enjoy! Happy writing! Gina
