This post is going to be short and sweet. I’m having another short story contest and I’d like you all to enter; stretch your writing chops, as they say.
The prize this time is a handmade beaded bookmark. I know the prizes are a little silly, but it’s just a small token to thank you. Now, without further ado, here’s this week’s contest theme.
I’ve Chosen the Horror Genre’ This Time
However, feel free to flip the prompt’s theme into another genre’, if you’d like. That would be extremely creative. Write a romance, or anything you’d like by putting your own spin on the prompt you choose.
Here are the Rules:
- choose one prompt from the ones listed below
- write your story in any genre’ you’d like, even though the prompts are in the horror genre’
- story must be between 1,000 – 3,000 words, 12 pt, double spaced
- write the prompt you choose at the top, before your story begins
- deadline for entry is 8/30/20 midnight, EST

The winner will get the bookmark mailed to them and have their story posted on the Facebook Group (The Ins and Outs of Novel Writing), The Time is Write blog and Facebook page, and on Twitter and Pinterest

- Day after day, year after year, he said nothing of his affection. “I am in love with you,” he whispered to the headstone before him.
- Write about a funeral from the dead person’s viewpoint
- The old house was in disrepair. No one had lived there for years. But when the day came to tear down the walls, she found the small door under the stairs.
- As I lie in bed, staring at the ceiling, it starts again– the slow creak of a rocking chair on the worn floorboards of the attic.
